Caerfai means ‘bay fort’ in Welsh – and you can still see evidence of the iron age fort on the nearby promontory. We’re also just a mile from St Davids, the smallest city in the UK.

Are dogs allowed on Caerfai Beach?

Dogs are welcome on Caerfai beach all year round. No dogs are allowed on Whitesands beach from 1st May to 30th September and dogs are not permitted on parts of Newgale Beach during these dates.

Caerfai beach lies about a mile outside St Davids, and is a beautiful all-rounder. It’s a fantastic swim spot, a sheltered sun trap, and is dog friendly all year round. The car park is conveniently located above the beach, and your pooch will start to sniff the sea air as soon as you park up.

Can dogs go on Whitesands beach?

On two beaches, Whitesands and Tenby North to include harbour beach, the restriction covers the whole of the beach. Guide dogs are welcome on Pembrokeshire’s beaches all year round.

Can dogs go on Amroth beach?

Amroth is a half mile long, flat, sandy beach. Dog restrictions apply to the central and western end of the beach between 1st May & 30th September. Check out a map of the beach to help with which section of the beach it applies to.

Porthlysgi Bay, St Davids Not just a beach but a whole bay! Porthlysgi is a gently sloping sandy beach with a pebble bank above the foreshore (most of Pembrokeshire’s beaches have pebble banks). You’ll need to park at Porthclais and walk west for about a mile but it’s well worth the effort.
