What does Dyn11 mean?
Dyn11 is vector group notation of tansformer. It means LV winding, which is star connected (written in small letters means LV side and vice versa)is 30 degrees lagging by HV winding which is delta connected. In India we go for +-30 deg connection of transformer.
What does N mean in transformers?
This is known as the Transformer EMF Equation. For the primary winding emf, N will be the number of primary turns, ( NP ) and for the secondary winding emf, N will be the number of secondary turns, ( NS ). In other words, transformers DO NOT operate on steady state DC voltages, only alternating or pulsating voltages.
What is dY11 in transformer?
Example – Dyn11 Transformer has a delta connected primary winding (D) a star connected secondary (y) with the star point brought out (n) and a phase shift of 30 deg leading (11). For example, a step-up transformer with a delta-connected primary, and star-connected secondary, is not written as ‘dY11’, but ‘Yd11’.
What is Vector Group Test in transformer?
A vector group is the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) method of categorizing the high voltage (HV) windings and low voltage (LV) winding configurations of three-phase transformers. The vector group designation indicates the windings configurations and the difference in phase angle between them.
Why are dyn11 and dyn5 vector groups different?
A Dyn11 and a Dyn5 have different vector groups so they can’t be paralleled directly by matching busings. However, using two phase rolls and different bushing connections, the vector groups can be matched. First, here are the vector groups for a Dyn1, Dyn5 and Dyn11 when excited by counter clockwise, positive sequence, phase rotation ABC:
Can a dyn5 transformer be connected to the same supply?
Connect one of each transformer to the same supply. When one phase is at maximum positive w.r.t. neutral on the Dyn5, at the same instant that phase eill be at maximum negative on the Dyn11. For a single transformer feeding an island load, this phase reversal will be of no consequence.
Why is delta winding used in dyn11 Transformers?
Dyn11 transformer is widely used because in the transmission of power, at some points voltage is stepped up and at some times voltage is stepped down. So to make the system highly efficient, delta winding is used at L.V. side while star is used at H.V. side.
