The bars on the coffee pods denote the number of bars to press on the machine to get the right strength. If you haven’t got bars on your machine I can’t answer your question. The marks are to match the recommended settings on some of the newer machines. If you have an older machine they work just as they always have.

Can you put milk in a Dolce Gusto machine instead of water?
It Won’t Taste Good If you replace water with milk, the consistency and taste of your coffee will suffer, and you’ll most likely end up drinking bad coffee. After all, milk doesn’t taste that great when it’s heated too much. As a result, you’ll be left with milk with a hint of coffee, instead of the other way around.

Can I use Lidl pods in Dolce Gusto?
